Recently, my son and I have become the proud new owners of a 10" LX200 GPS telescope.  What a difference a few mere inches of aperture make!    Check out our planet pictures now:

You can see Casini's Division most of the way around,
as well as a faint, darker band on the planet itself. 

 

We still have a ways to go, but we're slowly getting there.  Now, if only the clouds would
go away...
